Catching Up with Kriner
We sit down with one of the best MLB the Show players to learn more about his game.
For the past few years, I have tried streaming on Twitch playing MLB The Show and other games (but mainly MLB The Show). One day, I would like to get a decent amount of viewers to interact with, so I watch some of the other top streamers to see how they run their channels and how they engage with their content. One of the best I’ve seen is Kriner. He is a college kid who streams when he can and has become a Twitch partner, and one of the top streamers of MLB The Show.
Last year, Kriner claimed his third esports championship, winning the MLB The Show Championship Series 23 at just 18 years old. One thing that makes Kriner such a substantial streamer is his willingness to give advice and tips to other players and streamers. He releases videos occasionally to give helpful tips to other players to enhance their game. Personally, they’ve really helped me.
Recently, I was able to chat with Kriner and dig into his content, get some quality advice for fellow gamers/streamers, and whatever else comes up. He began streaming the game back on the MLB The Show 19 edition.
There has obviously been a lot of adjustments being made to the game since this release that has improved the gaming experience significantly including The Negro League storylines, Road To The Show storylines, and overall gameplay enhancements. Since the release of MLB The Show 19, Kriner’s favorite updates to the game have been more PCIs (Plate coverage indicator) and pinpoint. He attributes those two additions to how his game has elevated the most.
As a typical viewer of his streams, I have always wondered how he manages his time streaming content (being a top-ranked gamer) and also attending college. “It’s definitely hard, I try to play a bit in my dorm Monday-Wednesday and stream and play a lot more Thursday-Sunday when I’m home.”
There are so many different ways to enjoy MLB The Show and that’s one of the things I like about it. I asked Kriner to give some advice to gamers and streamers that want to get more engagement with their content and how to simply get better in the game.
“I would say the biggest thing is to find a pci you like. I see a lot of people change a ton and that hurts most people more than helps. I would also add content wise just be consistent and make something that makes you stick out. Be creative.”
I hear people all the time express their frustration with hitting. They struggle to hit the ball in MLB The Show. We all have slumps so don’t let it discourage you. I will say this video has given more success at the plate.
Be sure to follow Kriner on Twitch to get more helpful tips and you may enjoy his content as much as I do. It was a blast chatting with him and getting some tips from him to help us all get better.
I plan to get back on the streaming front myself next week and also will have an update on my Diamond Dynasty and Road To The Show journey. I also am working on digging into Franchise mode.I am the master of Franchise Mode and can build a World Series contender with any team within 3 years. I will show you soon. Stay tuned for next week.
