Happy launch day to all those who celebrate.
Let’s get right into today’s post as everyone gets ready for tonight or whenever you can get to play. Here’s what I plan to do first once the game is live.
Oh, and in the immortal words of Kevin James:
Get Started on the Live Series Collection
This is an important one. I understand this takes some time, but it is my primary focus as we get started. I want to finish the Live Series Collection as fast as possible, which is not always easy as a no-money-spent player. You will see guys on social media drop $1,000 on Stubs and finish the collection in a few hours. That’s not me and I’m guessing that’s not you. So how do we get started?
Mainly, we want to start flipping early. Player cards often have little margin at this time of year, so I will focus on equipment. I know it is boring – and not the easiest thing without the mobile app – but it is important to start building your team. By having the collection rewards early, we’ll have a leg up on most of our competition.
Here’s a great video on flipping equipment:
I would attempt to build up a bankroll of about 300,000+ stubs to continually flip and then complete teams as you can. I’d start in the American League this year as both the Braves and Dodgers look to have insanely expensive teams to complete. We’ll talk more about flipping soon, but I start right out of the gate to get my team going.
Do All Available Showdowns
Showdowns are easy to do and often give lots of XP toward program progress. Knock out all that are available, especially any that are tied to Team Affinity. If you struggle with Showdown, just remember to take until you get two strikes to wear out the opposing pitcher, use any quirks that increase exit velocity, and don’t worry about defensive position when drafting – just take the best hitters.
The USA Conquest Map
Hello darkness my old friend.
I’ve done the USA Conquest Map roughly 4,000 times in my days of playing the Show. It’s long and tedious but it offers great rewards. While it has not officially been announced, it has become a staple of MLB the Show launch for several years. You don’t have to do the map all at once but try to knock out a few strongholds every day. This will give you stubs, XP, packs, and player cards for collections. It’s a good bang for your buck.
Event/BR
Depending on the rewards, I will push early to complete the first Battle Royale program or grab whatever rewards are available in the first event. I’m assuming the event will be tied to the Breakout Stars program. Either of these avenues will provide lots of early rewards and hopefully, some good cards that can instantly go into my lineup.
Moments
I hate moments so much, although I’m slightly curious as to what the defensive ones look like this year. If they are more involved – like that mini-game shown during the Jeter program – they might not be as bad. However, if I need to strike out 10 batters over 7 innings, then I’m going to drive into oncoming traffic. That said, completing moments early can again provide valuable XP and Stubs, so put a movie on a second screen and just knock them out.

I don't think flipping equipment will work anymore with CAPS no longer in DD.
